Les Larmes de Narcisse: An Afternoon with Julie Girard. Book Signing

On Saturday, March 9, at 3pm join Julie Girard as she signs copies of her second novel, Les Larmes de Narcisse (Gallimard, 2024), just released in France.

Created by two lovers, Lotus Eaters is a virtual world that guarantees freedom of expression and behavior. Thea and Gary meet in secret, she in America, he in London, thanks to sensors that relay all their bodily functions, including touch. In a New York society where censorship is everywhere and rules over everyone’s behavior, can love open up new possibilities? Julie Girard reflects on the disturbing power of narcissism in our increasingly dematerialized lives, and follows the emancipation of a young woman driven by her idealism and talent, against the prejudices of her time.

This event is free and open to all.
