American Cinerama: an afternoon with François Velin

On Saturday, September 27th , join us as we welcome François Velin for a book signing of his debut novel, American Cinerama, published in France by Les Presses de la Cité.
American Cinerama is a tribute to New York, its people, and its cinematic and musical imagination. With his marriage on the rocks, Antoine is rewarded with an unexpected promotion. The whole family is moving to New York! Gabrielle, his wife, welcomes the news with joy and already imagines herself living the American dream. Unfortunately, nothing goes as planned. When the promised position is eliminated, Antoine refuses to tell Gabrielle the truth and stay in Paris. Out of pride and to save his marriage, he decides they will leave anyway. Soon, anything is possible and New York is his for the taking. It’s up to him to become someone else, or at least pretend to… even if it means compromising his values, associating with unsavory characters, and losing everything.
This event is free and open to all.
François Velin is an advertising executive and entrepreneur. In 2016, he moved with his family to New York and founded the subsidiary of a forward-looking magazine. It was there that he came up with the idea for American Cinerama, his first
novel. His passion for cinema led him to enroll in the screenwriting workshop at La Fémis. Since then, he has collaborated
on the writing of films and series.
